Harvesting the bare rooted "handlings"

Readers may remember the "Trials" being undertaken to grow the worlds first self tinning tomatoes at a secret location in Cheshire. While that trial failed, along side blossomed a trial for handlings. These unusual plants, when fully grown, take on the appearance of common allotment tools. It's early days but one of the six "handlings" planted earlier in the year is already beginning to take on a familiar appearance.
